Our First Real Halloween

Honestly, the kids had no idea what Halloween was all about the last two years.  And I didn't have any inclination to dress them up and parade them around when they didn't have a clue.  Cue the Mommy guilt for not feeling more festive.  But this year, we got it done.  After a little Trunk or Treat experience, they knew what they were in for and gladly dressed up.  They grabbed those jack o' lanterns and were ready to go!  Here's Bob the Builder, wearing his hat the way he likes it...

And here he is with Wendy.  Tool belts, hardhats and tape measures ready!

And then they were off!  We visited three of our closest neighbors and called it a day.  It takes longer than you think when all of them think your children are adorable and are excited to have their first trick or treaters in years...

They waited patiently, though it wasn't a long wait at all.  Every neighbor was waiting at the door.  Ready with loads of treats.  The kids softly said, "Trick or treat!" and "Thanks so much!" and "We'll see you later!" with some cuing... unless of course Caden had just been complimented.  In that case, he clammed up and looked away until the spotlight shifted.

To Pat,  John and Gert, and Bob and Joan...  we say THANK YOU!!  You made our kiddos' first real Halloween experience so special.  They loved coming home and picking out their own dessert, and they have such a stash they'll be able to keep on picking for quite some time!
