- The kids are really making connections and identifying personal traits. When I fold some laundry they can tell you who wears each item of clothing. Or who says certain catchphrases. They can also tell which neighbors are coming and going by their cars.
- Step stools are a big hit in our house now. They get used all the time, and sometimes when I'm not looking. That's how the light on the water/ice dispenser got "broken". Travis went for a glass of water the other day and thought it was odd the light was out. Turns out it was just unscrewed a few times, by our resident Mr. Fix-it.
- Also, the kids can now turn on the kitchen light by standing on their step stool and using a toy hammer to reach the switch.
- Addison recently wanted to read a book about food. When I pointed and said, "That's a watermelon" our conversation went exactly like this...
Addison: "I like dat"
Mommy: "Me too!"
Addison: "I eat it when Mommy gets it."
Mommy: (Words failed me, so I smiled and hugged her.)
Addison: "I love you so much"
Mommy: (I melted. Into a big puddle of goo. Then we hugged and I dashed for pen and paper.)
- The kids spent ten days with Gramzy and Pop, which deserves its own post to fully explain. But to sum up, Grandparent Camp was a huge hit. Not sure who had more fun, the campers or the counselors!!
- Heard a loud crash from the playroom the other day, followed by double cries. I dashed in to find that the mirror had somehow been removed from the wall and had fallen at their feet. The mirror, which had been triple hung and reinforced with quadruple 3M hook and loop fasteners. How do you kid-proof it even more? Screw it directly into the studs through the frame, a la one my favorite Mexican restaurants? Gorilla Glue?
- And finally, Addison may be watching reruns of "Golden Girls" when I'm not around because she's really starting to sound like Blanche. Inexplicably, she's started adding syllables and stretching out vowels. Here are a few examples, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:
Dad = da-yedddd
red = re-yedddd
wrench = wreeee-ench
fix it = feeex it
come back = come bay-ack
fix it = feeex it
come back = come bay-ack
