Early this morning I got the van inspected while Mom got the kids up and Travis got ready for work. And I enjoyed myself tremendously. I arrived with wet hair pulled back into a rough bun and my workout clothes on. I dropped off the keys with a smile and headed directly to the Keurig machine for coffee. Then I grabbed a current issue of People and plopped down. Skim, sip, turn the page, stare, sip, read, sip, page turn... I was so wrapped up in my moments of luxurious aloneness that I didn't even get halfway through the magazine before a kind gentleman from the garage crept over to me, leaned down, smiled and said these words...
Mrs. Zarins? Your van is finished and you're all ready to go. But feel free to stay as looong as you like. Really! The key will just be at the desk whenever you're ready. Enjoy your magazine and your coffee.
Seriously? Is it that obvious? Apparently so. Even the guys at the garage know that a mother flying solo, at any hour, is a welcome break. Add coffee and a current magazine, and you have bliss people.
