Seriously. Could they look more grown up, sitting there?!? (Note how excited Addison is already :( and how Caden immediately grabbed any tools he could reach.) Last week the kids visited what may possibly be the most kid-friendly dentist of all time. I'd gotten great recommendations on this place, and it didn't disappoint. Everyone who worked there was super nice, they even emailed me a picture they snapped from our visit! The furniture was kid sized, complete with TV mounted at their level on the wall. And the teacher in me loved the parent presentation (complete with handouts and demonstrations) while the kids were free to roam. (They roamed a baby-gated, kid friendly area while monitored by all the dental assistants.) The twinlets liked it all pretty well until the actual putting strange hands in their mouths thing happened. Full disclosure: it was lunch time and nap time by the time we left so I really can't blame them.
Caden was a real fan. It took him all of a few seconds to find the remote control, mouse, dental gadgets, clipboard, pen and foot pedal for the chair. Addison wasn't as much into the gadgets but was the first one to venture off on her own, reading books and exploring a new space with the other kids. Once the exam began, so did the crying (or in Addison's case shrieking). Of course they weren't the only ones, but when Addison really cranked up the dentist said, "She sure has a set of lungs!" Awesomeness.
Caden has all but the last set of molars. Addison has 12 of her teeth. Everyone's teeth passed with flying colors (PHEW!) and we're now looking forward to a hefty chunk of change leaving our pockets every six months... but as my wise mother pointed out, it's alot cheaper than paying for dental problems times two.
