One Of Those Mornings

It's just babies being babies. That's what I hear anyway. Well, whatever you call it... it wears you out. This morning we had a lovely playdate with some friends at our house. During which the kids were great. Until Mr. Whiny Pants started up. He whined off and on, even during snack (!!) until they left. It didn't matter what we played with or how long I held him. Then he screamed at the baby gate like his shoes were on fire while everyone left. I figured he needed some time to calm down so I left him and Addison for some independent play. No dice. He cried/screamed off an on the whole time. Until lunch.

I was trying to get lunch ready while entertaining the two of them in the kitchen, which was going fine until I realized Caden's arms had grown again. He reached an open can of soda and promptly dumped all of it into his face and down his shirt. Cue the crying, only louder this time. As I mopped up the sobbing Lo-carb Monster boy I took his clothes off and handed him his milk. I started cleaning what had previously been freshly mopped kitchen floor as he toddled a few steps away... only to slip and fall on the Monster feet he apparently still had. Milk went one way and Caden went another and his crying went up an octave. I cleaned that up and changed his clothes, returning to find our lunch had burned in the toaster oven. The quesadilla was now a burnt cheese balloon. I plopped Caden in his chair and gave him something to munch on while I redid lunch and got Addison squared away. Then he spent the entire lunch telling me that he wanted only a "nana". Sheesh. Here's hoping that a good nap ('cause surely he's pooped from all that crying) turns his day around...
