Diaper Rash Drama, Part 2
This morning the rashes looked so much better... but riding on the high of getting through yesterday, and feeling like I just really want it all gone, I figured why not do just this morning pants-less? Knowing I would go back to diapers at lunchtime gave me just the ignorant boost of confidence I needed to try again... All went well during the breakfast bottle and immediately after. Just one piddle each while Travis was upstairs getting ready for work. So I brought in the super-neat-o giant plastic-house-toy from Gramzy and Pop. It sings, it lights up, parts move... you know, pretty much toddler awesomeness! I was figuring a little entertainment would keep the troops interested while I got their solids ready. Well, I was too right... they were so entertained no one alerted me to the fact that there was a poop party going on. I came back to find a pooptactular mess. It was all over both kids, the comforter, the house... you couldn't even tell who the culprit(s) might be. Though judging from the grossness of the resulting mess I am pretty sure it was a team effort. So I grabbed Addison and headed to the changing table. Nope, this disaster called for Hazmat. So upstairs we went to the tub. I called for Travis to watch her while I returned for Caden, hoping all the way down the stairs that he had stayed put. He had, but I'm pretty sure he used his extra poop-play to paint the play house. After our bath we took the freshly cleaned kiddos to the kitchen. I have never been more grateful for linoleum, because they promptly piddled twice more. Thank goodness Travis was there, because we could play man-to-man and keep them out of each other's mess. Once that was cleaned up, Travis watched the kids in the kitchen while he had breakfast. I channeled my inner Mike Rowe (the "Dirty Jobs" dude) and threw myself into the task of disinfecting everything. I believe the words, "This can never be clean enough for my satisfaction now..." were spoken as I followed the tracks of my little poopertons with Oxi-Clean and Clorox wipes in hand. 4 piddles, 2 poops and a whole lot of cloth diapers, Clorox wipes and paper towels later... well, let's just say it makes 45 minutes go by pretty quickly. Me thinks that we might just bump up the return to diapers....
