I want to keep everything that has ever come into contact with my babies. But I know I can't. Besides the impracticality of it, my husband knows about those TLC shows on hoarders and really doesn't want to see the tv crew show up on our doorstep! So after much thought we made the decision to consign a whole lotta baby stuff with FUMC. Their proceeds go support local families in need, the whole sale is super organized, and as it turns out, many hours of tagging and sorting paid off. I made almost exactly what I spent at the consignment sale. As in within one dollar! Meant to be.
When the doors opened, most of the crowd headed straight for clothes. So I headed for toys, and found lots of good stuff. Some of it is a little beyond the kids right now, but all good deals. The very last thing I found, on my way out the door was possibly the best deal of all. A pull-behind bike trailer for two!
It was barely used, and it only needed a pin and a little more air in the tires and it was ready for action. So Travis headed out bright and early the next day to score the pin and two toddler helmets. They were the only two in stock at the bike store. Again, meant to be! Check out the kids getting fitted:
Then of course, they got to explore the "caboose". Caden got strapped in first so Addison decided to try her hand at the bike pump while she waited.
Once they were both strapped in, Addison gave her brother the "go" pat on the helmet, and they were off to the races!
Lesson learned: Pig tails fit under the helmet but can cause it to tip forward during transit. This can cause a little girl to spend the whole ride with hands on her helmet at "10 and 2" to hold it up. Until her mother figured out what was going on, that is.
The kids had a great time. They were bug free, and wheeling around fast. Not so sure it was all fun and games for Dad though... Seriously, he must be He-Man to drag 55 lbs behind him up our road.
Next up, the family ride. Travis thinks he can modify his old mountain bike to fit me so we can zip down the greenway together. I'm game. As long as it's flat-ish ; )
