Addison apparently had croup, and was given a steroid for the inflammation in her airway. Caden was deemed to have a virus and so he got nothing. But by Thursday morning he was much worse and so we got an antibiotic called in. Which I couldn't give him until after his nap. But I couldn't let him eat for an hour after dosing him. And he slept until almost 5. Which meant we basically needed to skip snack and go straight to an early dinner after his meds/waiting period. I was imagining what a sick, grumpy, hungry boy would be like as I had to tell him he couldn't eat... but as it turned out, he was fine. Because earlier that day Grampy decided to buy a new John Deere riding mower. And Caden luuuuuuuvs a tractor.
Sure enough, he woke up, I gave him his meds and we headed straight out to watch Grampy unload the mower. He cranked it up and Caden, with eyes wide and mouth poised, took a step forward. Then he asked to ride. And ride he did. Up and down the road. Through the yard. Around the back of the house. Ev-ery-where. Temporarily forgetting he was sick and hungry. God bless Grampy and John Deere. You were exactly what my son needed that day!
And while Caden had lots of fun doing this...
Addison, who preferred not to ride, kept herself happily occupied in other ways...
It was hard to say goodbye to the tractor, but eventually it was time to go in. And if it tells you anything, Caden did not want to ride the tractor again the next day. Sick. Boy. For. Sure.
