Playroom Update

Since my last playroom post, the room was repainted.  Hallelujah!  Gone is the sunset orange glow and the beige trim!  And here to stay is a lovely shade of oatmeal with crisp white trim.  I can't take credit for any of the painting, except for choosing the colors and paying the bill.  My neighbor did the rest.  But it was so worth it to vacate for a few days and return to a finished paint job which helped lighten things up considerably.  And the neutral tones helps balance out all the other competing colors in room.

Since the paint dried, I've rearranged the room about 37 times.  Trying to maximize space, create different play zones and still cover up the modem/airport/plugs that are off-limits.  Oh and keep things lit.  Remember we have no overhead light fixture, so lights have to be spread out and kid-proofed.

Most recently, I installed a white/magnetic board and repurposed a mirror to hang in the playroom.    Which adds to the light being reflected around the room.  It used to be the same color as the dark brown dresser.  I took the mirror apart, did zero prep work, added a few quick coats of spray primer-and-paint-in-one and reassembled.  Then for safety's sake I added two additional hanging hooks on either end of the mirror, making three in total across the top.  This made the mirror more secure against the wall and also keeps it level despite the daddy vs. twinlet running fests that happen each night around here.  All in all, we're getting there!  Check out the before and afters to see the progress.  And then, start thinking about how to make the most of those trimmed insets on the back wall which are still there, in the new and improved colors.  Comments start.... NOW!
