Today I heard you laugh for the first time. You've chuckled before, and accidentally made sounds like laughing many times. But this time was different. You looked right at me, when I picked you up and brought you close to my face. Then you broke out in the hugest grin and lit up the whole room with a series of full-on laughs. I laughed back, and you laughed harder. I almost cried I was so happy! I could feel my heart grow a size larger on the spot!
You bring us so much joy already I can hardly describe how wonderful it was to hear your sweet laughs wash over me. I just wish your dad could have heard it too. But I know he will soon now that you know how good it feels to laugh with abandon. We will try to teach you how important it is to find humor in this world. To laugh at yourself, but never at others. To feel joy, right through your toes and then to wear it on your face all day long. There is so much I want you to know! But for now, just know how much your dad and I love you. And keep laughing.
Always,
Mom
