I'm In Food Jail

We went to the nutritionist today. Got my blood checker and learned how to use it. Have to test my blood upon waking, and then 2 hours after each meal. Have to bring my weekly blood sugar results to every doctor visit for further monitoring. And although that's an inconvenience, the real pain is my diet.

I've been sent directly to food jail. I had small hopes that a little cheat every now and then would be ok, or that I'd be allowed a little sugar (even in the way of fruit juice) since I was pregnant. Turns out that I'm not. Not only do I have to give up refined sugars and artificial sugars (while Splenda is ok with my doctor, it is not ok with my husband) I also have to limit my carb intake... and it turns out that carbs include not only grains but fruits and dairy as well. Pretty much all my favorite things.

The only "good news" that I got, was that as soon as I deliver this condition should go away on its own. But I'm still looking at many long weeks of what feels like dieting, at the very time that comfort food would feel so wonderful... Ug.
