The kids have discovered the joys of jumping. Off tall things. Like toy chests and sofas. And if broad jumping were an Olympic sport, my children would be gold medalists in the toddler division. So a little playroom rearrangement has become necessary. I moved the toy chest upstairs into their bedroom. Now there are two in there. The new one I scored at Goodwill, which has a safety-close lid for actual toy storage. And my old toy chest, built by my sweet uncle, which functions more like a towel-covered-table for our book bin until we get around to safetifying it.
Adding a piece of furniture meant another had to be removed. So out went the glider, leaving just the recliner for sitting. Probably best since one adult and two toddlers don't fit well in the glider any more. The glider went into the guest room/overflow-toy-storage-room, pushing several big toys back into the playroom. And of course, the playroom toys that were previously contained in the toy chest needed new homes. I THINK I FEEL A TARGET OR IKEA VISIT COMING ON for some new storage shopping!!
Thankfully, the kids played pretty well while I accomplished all this. By which I mean, they were occupied and didn't fight. By which I mean that they completely disasterized right along behind me... If I weren't so used to it I'd have been pretty mad to walk back into the kitchen after all my organizing just to find entire drawers and shelves of things strewn all over the floor. Have I mentioned that my knees stay permanently rough from all the crawling around I do? It's either that or back pain from bending over. I choose knees.
Anyhoo. The terrible crashing in the playroom has stopped. No more launching their not-so-little bodies into space only to come thundering down into piles of laughter. No one had gotten hurt. Yet. But it was only a matter of time before they started trying to jump from one thing to another. Or trying to jump on top of each other. And I for one prefer to keep our ER visits to a minimum. So... one good thing done. Hopefully a potential problem has been fixed. Now, to figure out how to get Caden to use his milk for good and not evil. Mommy is ti-red of cleaning up the spills, pours, dips, slips and splashes which he so kindly reserves just for me...
