- The kids are learning to express love freely and of their own accord : ) : ) They cuddle their lovies, snuggle with Mom and Dad, hug each other, talk about missing their extended family, and give kisses and hugs to greet and say goodbye. And now they want to say goodnight to each other before we put them down. Cue the collective "Awwww".
- The kids are learning to dance. With. Each. Other. Too cute!! Usually Addison asks to start. Sometimes Caden turns her down at first, other times he jumps right in. They hold hands and start rocking back and forth from side to side. Then they start walking together, forward and back. And that is usually where it all ends. Right about the time I've grabbed the camera and gotten it focused. Not sure if they've watched Travis and I in dancing in the kitchen or what.
- "Do it self!" is becoming a common phrase in our house.
- Actually doing it themselves is sometimes a big old pain for Mom. I have been known to carry Caden in from the car and plop him inside only to have him tell me (then, not when we got out of the car) that he wanted to do it himself. So back out we went to do it his way.
- We had to move our cleaning products. Which were in a child-proofed cabinet, which apparently was left un-proofed the night before. I was in the bathroom for approximately 10.4 seconds when it got quiet in the kitchen. Then as I make my way in I hear Addison say, "In da eye..." and see Caden sitting amid a big pile of various cleaners, having a Windex party. With nozzle pointed at his face. As I mentally congratulated myself on having poison control's number in my phone already, I dashed to snatch up the cleaners and check the kids. No one was crying, in fact they were rather enjoying themselves. Both kids had wet shirts and cheeks, but mercifully nothing was in or near an eye/ear/mouth. She made sure to point that out to me as I washed her eyes anyway. Oh yes, that was a fun time let me tell you. Ever bathed a cat? Now imagine the cat had road rage. And was hopped up on kitty meds. And THEN you washed her eyes.
And here is what is going on now...
- Addison, for some reason, is mostly referring to herself as "A'n" (pronounced "a-n" as if you were quickly sounding out the a and then the n without blending them together like "Anne"). As in, only the first and last letters of her name. Guess the girls in too much of a hurry for all her syllables at the moment.
- The kids are really beginning to talk up a storm now. It's like a running commentary in the car sometimes... "Red! Mommy stop. Now go! Gween! Going fast. A'n see a city bus! See bus again?!?? Where did da bus go? I see a stop sign. Stop! Where are we going?" You get the idea. So I don't listen to the radio much. That plus the double commentary in the back makes me feel a little schizophrenic.
- Addison is starting to sing. Of her own accord. Whole songs, recognizable, and sometimes with motions. And I cannot think of a sweeter sound. Her current faves are, "Bunny Foo Foo", "I'm a Little Teapot" and "Jesus Lubs Me".
- Caden is still obsessed with vacuums, mowers and blowers. I've learned how to tie the real vacuum to the baby gate so that it won't tip over and just let the boy play. And play he does. He changes the attachments, turns the vacuum on and off, and then decides to let it rest once he feels that it's getting hot. The handheld vac is also a favorite, but it actually makes me more nervous than the upright, because I have visions of a broken toe if he drops it... So that's a "play with mom" toy.
