Oh No You Didn't!
Tonight I had kid duty, as Travis is off on an adventure I hope he will blog about soon. As it was, I had my own little adventure at home. I had successfully gotten the kids through the grocery store at a late afternoon hour, then played with them in the rain before getting dinner on the table, and had moved into bath time. On the way up the stairs it became apparent that Addison needed a little clean up before the bath, if you know what I mean. So I started the water, got Caden settled in and ran off to change her. I know you're not supposed to leave them unattended in the bath... but I also know it's not good to change a fidgety girl covered in poop on a cold tile floor, or on a hardwood hallway. So I did the best I could and whipped into her bedroom. Only to discover the wipes were out. As in, none in the box and no extras in the usual spot. So I finished clean up the old fashioned way. With some moistened TP. And in she went too. At this point I knew I'd been likely changing at least one more diaper, so I sat with them a bit to ensure they were busy playing away before dashing downstairs to get more. I raced, and despite my fears they were happy as clams when I got back, playing politely, just like I'd asked them to. So, feeling pretty good about it, I reminded them that they were to stay in the tub, and keep the water in the tub with them while I dropped off the wipes. Ten feet people. That's how far I went. Dropped the wipes off and walked back eight feet. To be greeted by my naked daughter, who was dripping wet and smiling ear to ear as she rounded the corner to meet me. Oh yes, she got out of the tub by herself (bad), silently (even worse) and was happy about it (there are no words). Well actually there are words, most of which I managed to keep in my head. But some of which poured forth from my mouth while I gave her my best teacher stare with such a tone of seriousness that I think I made my point. Oh yes, when Daddy's away the good stuff always happens...
