Adventures In Potty Training: "A" For Effort

We're still very low key about formally training right now.  Just keeping the potty visible, talking about it now and then, and offering lots of positive reinforcement.  And it seems to be working, kind of.

If trying to tinkle were a sport, Caden would be an Olympic athlete.  We're a little afraid he's going to give himself a hernia actually.  He works so hard at it that he often pops up from the potty, whips around to look for the fruits of his labor while simultaneously yelling, "Flush it!  Flush it!" and in the process promptly deposits a little bonus nugget in the floor.  Yep, he is working so hard for #1 that sometimes he also manages to squeeze a little #2 action out.  Not enough for gravity to get it into the potty though.  Fun times I tell you.

Addison on the other hand is less excited about the potty, but far more likely to produce lots of liquid when we do manage to time things right and get here there after a dry spell.  She will sometimes tell you "tinkling" which can refer to the fact that she needs to, is, or already has.  Or just that she wants to mess with your head.  It all depends.

So in summation, not so much progress in terms of production or consistency... but we give both kids an "A" for effort!

They key is to let them do it when they are ready...NOT when you are ready. I think your approach is great!!! It won't be long and they will both be diaper free. Oh, it's so bittersweet to see them grow up....isn't it?
