Hands On Halloween

We didn't dress up.  Well formally that is.  We wore our jammies around like tails and donned cups for hats.  But that was just 'cause.  Besides, it was cold and rainy.  The kids had no interest in being dressed up and walked outside when they were supposed to be gearing down for the night.  And I didn't see the sense in buying a costume times two when they had no idea what was happening anyway.  So we decided to save the dress-up fun for next year when they'll have more fun with the whole thing.  Reading this, I realize how lame it all sounds.  The truth is, we bailed.

However, we did do something special to celebrate...  we tried our hands at decorating a pumpkin for the first time...  with finger paint of course!  I taped off the face with electrical tape (didn't have painter's tape on hand, it worked fine) and whipped up some homemade finger paint.  The kids didn't love the finger paint experience, in fact Addison only participated when I gave her a paint sponge.  So I had to try my hand at it too, to fill up the pumpkin canvas.  Once the paint was dry, I peeled the tape off and colored the face in with black marker.  The finger paint didn't adhere too well to the pumpkin but it made it for a few days...

We also tried chocolate pudding for the first time...
And we made a little pumpkin art!  Originally, the kids were going to stick the poms onto the glue I squeezed out.  However they were NOT into the glue, or the poms.  So I convinced them that patting the poms I'd placed was lots of fun ; )  Then I busted out a marker for the first time and had them pat the marker tip down as I moved it all over the pumpkin (stealthily avoiding markers on baby, whilst letting them think they were controlling the whole she-bang).  Kinda looks like rotting pumpkins, or pumpkins with chicken pox, but I think they are nonetheless smashing!!
