These kiddos are learning, all the time! Here are just a few of their recent accomplishments...
The best toy? The toy that the other one has of course!!! This has created a small problem, in that we don't have double toys. So Addison has learned how to "keep away" from her brother. He on the other hand is stronger and just overpowers her when he manages to take hold. Both strategies work pretty well and can keep a tug-o-war going for quite some time...
They both stand on their tiptoes to reach an object and are cruising like no body's business. I'm convinced they could circle the entire perimeter of the family room, if they only had the desire to. If you hold her hands Addison can sprint around the house with astonishing speed, though lately she's discovered her power and has started throwing her arms down and twisting to get you to turn and stop where she wants. Kind of funny to watch actually. Caden can walk but is definitely less into it than Addison. Maybe we should start using electronics as bait (see below)!
They've both taken an interest in what we're eating (Caden more than Addison though) and will sometimes try what we offer them from our fingers or a spoon, but they are funny about what they will pick up to eat themselves. Puffed o's, cheese, bread? No problem. A slimy piece of banana or a smashed pea? Not so much...
Demolition is part of our world now. Caden recently discovered that he could pop the crib rail covers off and play drums with them, or toss them over the side. And as much fun as that was, he found that it was even more exciting to nibble on the now-exposed crib rail. His crib is now covered with towels that Dad has velcroed in place. Unsightly, but functional until he figures that out too...
Our bravest explorer also makes a bee-line for anything electronic. This now includes remotes, cell phones, the DVD player, the baby monitor, alarm clocks, the computer keyboard and printer, a train toy with moving parts and lights, and his new favorite... the refrigerator. This makes Mom think that we have a little engineer on our hands, he is certainly drawn to figuring out how things work!
Addison is really starting to develop some language... she now says several words. While we can tell some of their meanings, she occasionally confuses words and we're pretty sure they also mean a few other things as yet undetermined:
Duck (duck)
Book (book)
Mama (Mom)
Dada (Dad)
Bye-bye (Bye)
Ba-ba (baby?, bottle?, other?)
She can also follow two directions (sometimes anyway). "S-t-r-e-t-c-h" gets her to stretch out adorably after a sleep. "Give ___ a kiss!" usually gets a precious sloppy smooch coming straight atcha. I'm pretty sure Caden has the receptive language, but isn't yet into expressing it.
The one thing they both definitely don't have yet? The concept of "NO". :) :)
