Smart Girl!

So today, Travis and I were watching Addison play on the carpet as her brother snoozed upstairs. Addison has mastered the full push up to her wrists and is starting to be able to lift her hips off the ground for a few seconds. But when she drops her hips back to the floor she ends up scooting back a few inches. Rinse and repeat and she's able to scoot backwards enough to move away from her toys without meaning to. This is what happened as Travis and I watched.

Real quick she let us know she wanted that toy again. As she got increasingly upset, our conversation went something like this:

Travis: This is a life lesson...
Me: (talking for Addison) "Dad, I'm only 6 months old... are you sure I need to learn this life lesson today?!? "
Travis: Just wait a minute...

Addison kept trying valiantly to reach the toy with different hands, angles and swipes, only to push the toy further away each time. And with each unsuccessful attempt she got more upset.

Me: Honey she's crying harder, I don't think she's going to figure this out.
Travis: Just wait...
Me: Maybe we could...

And it was at this moment that Addison, with complete intentionality, thrust her arm out in front of her, grabbed the blanket she was playing on, and dragged it back to her with the toy in tow.

Me: (stunned) Well look at that!!!
Travis: (smiling) Life lesson...

I think it won't be too long until that girl decides she wants to crawl!! The things I hear about her remind me so much of Izzy. They are two girls that know what they want. :o) Not such a bad trait to have!!

Sorry that I missed your Skype call last night. Try me again when you see me online and I'll do the same with you.

Hugs to all of you!!!
