Early Literacy Development: Part II

My constant chatter with the kids is only mostly for their benefit. Selfishly, I need to talk to someone to feel like a human most days, being that Travis is usually the only adult I see unless we run errands. And well... I just like to talk. Alot and fast once I get revved up. And often I use big words (so I've been told). I've always been that way.

Example: Back in my elementary days I rode to the beach with a family friend, Dee. Apparently she asked me one question as we left the driveway and I didn't stop talking until we arrived hours later. Upon getting out of the car I announced, "Everybody says I talk too much, do you think I talk too much?" in half a breath. Dee just laughed, and to this day still laughs about it.

Example: While spending time at Granny's one summer I came to the back porch and tried to tell Granny something through the screen door. I talked so fast that she just looked at me for a minute, turned to my mom with a look of utter befuddlement and said, "What did that child just say?..." in her delicious Southern drawl.

So whether or not Addison and Caden turn out to be fast talkers, generally verbose, or prolific writers and readers remains to be seen. But all this high-level conversation is at the very least enjoyable for their mom... :) :)
