Heart Melters

We still swaddle the babes for sleeping, though it's getting harder and harder to do. The kiddos are stronger and more determined to get out of the wrapping...  Look how I found Caden yesterday when I noticed him moving around in his bouncy seat.  It won't be much longer that we can keep swaddling them I guess... which is just fine. That means they're growing up, it's just happening way too fast!!

Later in the day Addison had a TOTAL meltdown. The kind of crying where nothing helps, the kind Oprah calls the "ugly cry", the kind that just kills you as a mom when you can't make it stop. Tried the bouncy seat (both kinds) and the swing (both kinds), no luck. Diaper changed twice, didn't help. Tried every position of carrying, walking and rocking, nada. Went outside (which usually calms her a little at least) and even went to the nursery to try the white noise, but nothing. So I gave up and carried her into the bathroom. Put her on a towel and propped her with a pillow on the floor, then rigged up the hairdryer to run while touching the cabinet doors (making a nice vibrating sound in addition to the drying sound, which helped but didn't stop the crying. So I turned on the fan and the shower and she paused ever so briefly, giving me a ray of hope. I decided right then and there I was going to win this one way or the other. If she stopped crying... wonderful. If she didn't, I was at least going to get a shower out of all this. So I hopped in and kept sneaking peeks at her. And darn it if she wasn't dead asleep by the time I was done. Granted this only lasted for about 15 minutes, but it was a well-earned 15. When she wound up again I scooped her up and headed downstairs to get organized for feeding. And I found my two favorite men watching golf together... serene as they could be despite the ruckus that had been going on all over the house with Addison. Next time I'm trying golf with her...
