Update From The Doctor

No real action to speak of, but lots of encouraging news. Here are the highlights from this morning's visit... our last before the babies arrive!

  • my cervix is now "paper thin", still dilated to 1-2 cm. This is good, b/c when we do go into labor I'll already be effaced!
  • babies are still in the head down position
  • I have zero stretch marks, and according to our practitioner I'm the only twin momma she's ever seen with zero!
  • belly has definitely dropped a little more (making it easier to eat and breathe, but harder to walk and move)
  • there's a reason for my leg/pelvic pain... my bones are basically flexing and floating every time I move, and my muscles and ligaments are trying their best to stabilize them. PLUS I have 13 lbs of head-down babies pressing on them. Makes for alot of ouchie moments.
  • got some good recommendations for how to perhaps get a few hours of sleep at a time, and how to relieve some of the pain mentioned above. Plus got some good info about how to help try and bring on labor ourselves (rather than induction) and which methods do not work.
  • the white splotchy dots all over my body are a function of all the extra fluid I'm carrying around. It's also why when you poke me, the spot remains bright white for a while, almost like a bad sunburn. PS: my joint pain is a function of all the fluid, which will quickly go away after birth :) :)
  • the doc doesn't think we'll have 7 pounders when we deliver (phew!) so I'm pretty much where I'm going to be in terms of humongousness...

And so we wait a little more. Knowing that in the next 7 days we will have our little ones!
