What The Babes Have Been Up To:
This week the network of nerves in our babies' ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. They may now be able to hear both our voices as Travis and I chat with each other. The babies are inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of their lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when they are born and takes that first gulp of air. If I'm not mistaken I think I felt the first little hiccups from our girl today... And the little ones are continuing to put on baby fat. They now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.
What The Parents Have Been Up To:
This past weekend we had our very first baby shower, hosted by Gayle, Lori and Cathy. It was UNBELIEVABLE. So wonderful to see many of our favorite people gathered in one place, to celebrate our little twin wonders with all manner of beautiful baby things. We came away with such great memories!! Pix are coming soon...
In addition, we got to spend the weekend with Mom and Pop Z, and an overnight with my parents and sister. How fun that everyone was together! We took turns trying to feel the babies move... Never fear, there is plenty of belly real-estate to go 'round!
PS: This look says, "You mean I won't be the star attraction anymore when you come home to visit?" Don't worry Jake, the babies will love you loads when they're old enough!
