Another Doctor Visit

At today's doctor visit we sadly did not get to do an ultrasound. But we did listen to their heartbeats (they were "movin" according to the doctor) and found out where they were located. Baby A was low on the right (if you were looking at me) and Baby B was high on the left. The doctor could tell they when they moving with the sounds of the monitor, so I guess I'm right to think I'm feeling them now and then. By the next visit I should be feeling them lots!

My uterus measured 23 cm, which would be more like what a singleton would measure at week 21 or 22. No wonder things are starting to feel crowded! The doctor even showed us how you can feel where the top of your uterus ends. He also said that my headaches and low back pain are quite normal. So is my reflux and it's only going to get worse. I may end up going to a chiropractor though, movement in my left leg or twisting and bending at the waist brings a sharp pain in the back. He said that was due to the softening of the connections in my pelvis. I'm dealing ok with it, but it's a real pain. Have to get in and out of the car differently, have to get up and sit down carefully and so on.

The bad news was that my iron level had dropped a whole point since last visit, so I'm now on iron supplements. They take about a month to make a dent in my deficit, so I'm actually glad to start them now and not later. The good news is that I passed my 3 hour glucose test! However, because I failed the first 1 hour one I have to retake the 3-hour version at 24 weeks instead of the easy 1 hour test. UG! But, I did it once, surely I can do it again.

Next up, our Level 2 ultrasound at the hospital on Monday. It will take about an hour and they'll measure and evaluate everything about the babies. They'll also probably tell us about 20 things that they see that could be signs of all sorts of problems. All my friends have said they left that appointment scared, but that the technicians have to tell you that stuff and it almost never turns out to be anything worrisome. Hopefully they'll also be able to tell genders... so Granny can finally start on those quilts!!! We'll be sure to post on Monday one way or the other. Now back to waiting on the snow!
