The Look of Love

Love is easily seen in the eyes...  Here are some of the great loves in my life that I am thankful for every day:

There is nothing in this world like your mom.  Her heart is the size of a truck and she always recognizes when something isn't right in your world.  Her hands never stop moving and  have the amazing ability to be soft when you need, and hard when she needs.  Her hug solves all the problems of your world.  She teaches you about beauty and grace, diplomacy and multitasking under pressure.  She is who you want to be and who you never want to lose all at once.

There is nothing in the world like your dad.  He is strong, he speaks the truth, and he stands guard over you and you heart until you can stand alongside him.  He sees your possibilities and helps you discover the best this world has to offer, including snack food, power tools, and adventures both big and small.  He fixes any problem known to man and protects you from all ills.  He makes you believe that you are smart, capable and worthy of his pride.  Which is all in the world you ever wanted anyway.

There is nothing like the love of friends, who've seen you through tough times.  Who live life, fully present.  And who invest in your heart with their spirit.

There is nothing like the love of life partners, who meant the word "forever" when they promised it to each other.  Who have born hardships and joys that we can never fully know, while building a life together one choice at a time.  Whose legacy will be measured in life lessons lived out and love demonstrated.   

 

There is nothing like love just begun...  The kind of love that rescues us from an ordinary life and transforms our visions of the future, just in the nick of time.   

Love is.  And therefore we are.
